SRS has an immediate opening for a Senior Hydrogeologist/Geologist based Remotely or Hybrid at one of our many office locations.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expert-level hydrogeology support and consulting for evaluating and developing strategies for complex environmental sites and projects.
- Serve as technical lead and manage large and geologically complex project sites involving soil and groundwater contamination and remediation nationwide.
- As technical lead: develop conceptual site models (CSMs); formulate problem statements and project objectives; develop site characterization plans, support development of feasibility and remedial action plans, consult on remedial designs/optimization; ensure data quality and sufficiency for aquifer characterizations and CSM development; perform data evaluations and predictive analysis including analytical, and numerical modeling approaches.
- Provide leadership and oversight of planning, project team activities and progress, deliverable quality, cost estimating, cost and schedule control. Interact with internal and external customers on technical, regulatory, and project scope/schedule/budget.
- Support regulatory oversight under CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, and state regulations.
- Be a collaborative partner and develop productive work relationships with project teams. Mentoring and train junior and mid-level geoscience and engineering staff.
- Demonstrated professional judgement, consistency and attention to detail with track record of delivering high-quality work products.
- Train and mentor staff in: General Hydrostratigraphy and Remediation Strategies; Key Technical QA/QC concepts and Methods; Strategy Development, Technical Proposal Writing, Contingency Management and Client Management.
- Strong technical writing and ability to contribute hydrogeologic interpretation and evaluation in complex documents (e.g. RI Reports, Feasibility Studies, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of previous hydrogeologic and remediation consulting experience in planning and/or executing environmental investigation and remediation projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology or geology.
- State registration in geology and/or hydrogeology or similar professional registration/certification relevant to geoscience investigation and interpretation. California licensure preferred, but not required.
- Experience and familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, SDWA and various DoD branch (i.e., USACE, Navy, U.S. Air Force) regulations and reporting requirements. Correspondingly, candidate must have experience in the preparation, reviewing and publishing of Remedial Investigations reports, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Action Plans.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to nationwide project sites, as needed.
- Demonstrated history in the investigation and remediation of petroleum hydrocarbons and chlorinated volatile organic compounds in both soil and groundwater in a multi-layered aquifer system.
- Experience in aquifer characterization including planning, implementation and analysis of slug and pumping tests and data, tracer studies, down-hole geophysical investigations, including e-logs, OTV/ATV and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) tools, and analytical and numerical modeling (i.e., MODFLOW).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
- Previous involvement in preparing or contributing to project proposals and managing project budgets
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. in related hydrogeologic or engineering field
- Experience with investigating soil and groundwater contaminated with PFAS/PFOA compounds.
- Experience with Environmental Sequence Stratigraphy principals and application
- Experience presenting scientifically complex data to project teams, clients, and/or at environmental conferences.
- Experience with ArcGIS, Rockworks, Leapfrog, EVS, or similar programs for assimilating and visualizing project data.
- Strong understanding of remediation technologies and use of hydrogeologic principles to optimize design and operation.
